Lancashire #15 AMD Treatment Plant Groundbreaking ceremony - November 12th
The Department of Environmental Protection will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the Lancashire #15 Acid Mine Drainage Treatment Plant at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12 at the project site near Spangler, Barr Township, Cambria County.
This $11 million plant will provide up to 10 million gallons per day of treated water to the West Branch of the Susquehanna River, bringing immediate improvements to an estimated 25 miles of the West Branch and significantly improving the quality of the water entering the Curwensville Reservoir. In addition, the Susquehanna River Basin Commission has committed $3.9 million to the perpetual operation and maintenance of this treatment plant.
Join DEP Secretary John Hanger, elected officials and representatives of the Fish and Boat Commission and the Susquehanna River Basin Commission to celebrate this significant milestone in the restoration of the West Branch.
